Austin Dennison scored a go-ahead goal at 6:05 in the third period Friday and his hometown Missoula Jr. Bruins held on to beat the Great Falls Americans 3-2 at Glacier Ice Rink.
The Jr. Bruins snapped a two-game skid in improving to 8-9-1 in NA3 Hockey League Frontier Division action. The Americans saw their two-game win streak come to an end, falling to 12-4-2.
Great Falls jumped in front with a power-play goal with 53 ticks left in the first period. Trent Cowden lit the lamp with assists from Kody Thomas and Jens Juliussen.
Missoula stormed back with a pair of goals in the second period. Misha Akatnov scored at 14:11 while his team was short-handed and Tyler Young scored a power-play goal at 17:43 with assists from JJ Blondin and Josh Kirk.
Great Falls knotted the score on a goal by Nick Ramstad at 4:18 in the third period. Dennison scored less than two minutes later with an assist by his Russian teammate, Akatnov.
Great Falls finished with a 33-23 edge in shots. Goalie Bryan Thomas made 31 saves for the hosts.
The Jr. Bruins will play at Great Falls Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
