HELENA — The Missoula Junior Bruins held a brief 4-2 lead against the Helena Bighorns but gave up the final six goals in an 8-4 loss on Saturday at Helena Ice Arena.

Missoula dropped to 9-11-1 in NA3 Hockey League Frontier Division action. Helena improved to 13-7-1.

The Jr. Bruins trailed 2-1 after one period with Rhys Cottle scoring the lone Missoula goal, unassisted.

They then scored the first three goals of the second period to go up 4-2. Misha Akatnov scored on assists by Cameron Cunningham and Parker Todd 5:13 into the period. He added an unassisted, shorthanded goal 9:17 into the period. Todd pushed the lead to 4-2 10:12 into the frame with a shorthanded goal assisted by Cunningham and Ryley Cook.

Helena scored four goals in 6:19 to reclaim the lead. Ben Kottmeier scored two of the goals, the first on a power play. Hayden Seitz scored two goals, one of which was shorthanded. They both finished with hat tricks and one assist; Seitz had scored in the first period, and Kottmeier added another goal in the third.

Richard Groskops scored twice for Helena, finding the back of the net for the first goal and the final goal of the game.

Eric Berglund got the win in the net for Helena. He saved all 13 shots he faced in 29:47, coming in with Helena down 4-2.
