FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Brayon Blake scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Idaho held on to beat Northern Arizona 84-80 on Saturday night.
Blake was 8 of 15 from the field and 7 of 8 from the line for the Vandals (13-6, 5-2 Big Sky) who have won three straight. Victor Sanders added 21 points, Perrion Callandret had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Jordan Scott chipped in 11 points.
Blake, Scott and Nate Sherwood drained 3-pointers and Callandret made back-to-back dunks in a 20-7 start for Idaho. Northern Arizona answered with a 17-2 run to take a 24-22 edge with 6:23 in the half and the Lumberjacks (3-17, 0-7) led 36-32 at intermission.
A Blake 3-pointer followed by a Sanders layup early in the second half put the Vandals back on top for good, 54-53, with 12:50 left. Northern Arizona got as close as 77-74 with 39 seconds to go but could not get closer.
Torry Johnson scored 25 points for the Lumberjacks, who are on a seven-game skid.
S. UTAH 66, E. WASHINGTON 62, OT: Brandon Better scored 13 points with four 3-pointers and Jamal Aytes added 11 points as Southern Utah beat visiting Eastern Washington in overtime.The Thunderbirds led 35-30 at halftime and Dwayne Morgan's free throws tied it at 54 at the end of regulation. Jadon Cohee scored nine points for the Thunderbirds (8-10, 2-5), who made 11 3-pointers but shot 36 percent from the floor. Bogdan Bliznyuk scored 18 points with seven rebounds, Sir Washington added 15 points, and Mason Peatling had 10 points with 10 boards for Eastern Washington (9-11, 4-3).
N. COLORADO 94, N. DAKOTA 91, OT: Andre Spight sank a buzzer-beating, 3-point heave just inside the half-court line to give Northern Colorado an overtime win over visiting North Dakota. Spight had a career-high 34 points and scored the last nine points in overtime for Northern Colorado (13-7, 4-3). Geno Crandall led the Fighting Hawks with 30 points.
IDAHO ST. 71, SACRAMENTO ST. 65: Novak Topalovic had career highs of 25 points and 17 rebounds, and Jared Stutzman made five free throws in the final 18 seconds to help Idaho State beat visiting Sacramento State. Topalovic was 12 of 14 from the floor and Stutzman finished with 13 points. Geno Luzcando added 13 points and Brandon Boyd had 10 for Idaho State (9-9, 4-3). Izayah Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa and Justin Strings scored 14 points apiece to lead Sacramento State (5-15, 2-5).
WEBER ST. 82, PORTLAND ST. 79: Ryan Richardson tallied 17 points, five rebounds and five assists and Ricky Nelson scored 17 on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor and free-throw line as Weber State (12-7, 5-2) slipped past visiting Portland State. Deontae North topped the Vikings (13-7, 3-4) with 22 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Edwards totaled 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Edwards, a Kalispell Glacier graduate, has notched double-double-s in back-to-back games.
