HELENA - A 38-year-old Bozeman woman died Tuesday morning when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle on Interstate 90 near Drummond, the Highway Patrol reported.

Chun Liu was westbound at 10:25 a.m. and was trying to pass a vehicle when her vehicle drifted off the left side of the highway. She overcorrected, hit an embankment and the vehicle rolled. She was ejected.

The death raised the state highway fatality toll to 71, six fewer than on May 29, 2000.

The patrol reported Tuesday that no one died in traffic crashes over the Memorial Day holiday weekend for the first time since 1997. Last year, nine people died in five Memorial Day weekend crashes.
