HELENA — Montana's unemployment rate continues to fall.

The Department of Labor and Industry said Friday the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by 0.1 percentage points to 4.5 percent in June. That's down from 5.3 percent in January and 5.7 percent a year ago.

Labor Commissioner Pam Bucy says state officials anticipate the trend to continue, with more job gains and wage increases.

Payroll employment estimates indicate an increase of 1,800 jobs in June, while total employment — which also includes agriculture and the self-employed — increased by 819 jobs. Montana has added over 11,000 jobs since the beginning of the year.

Nationally, the unemployment rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points to 6.1 percent in June.
