HAMILTON - Butte Central's winning streak reached 35 on Thursday, as the Maroons swept a key Central A doubleheader from Hamilton.

Both schools entered the day undefeated in league play. The Maroons (5-0, 9-0) won by scores of 5-0 and 5-2. Hamilton (4-2, 6-4) committed four errors in each game.

The opener was scoreless through five innings. Central notched five runs in the top of the sixth with the help of four Hamilton errors. Kelsey Orizotti had an RBI single to put the Maroons up 1-0. Three of the runs scored on errors and the other scored on a wild pitch.

In the second game, Butte Central scored three in the third inning. The first two runs scored on a Hamilton error. The third scored on a single by J.J. Hogart.

Hamilton's Chelsey Smith walked with the bases loaded in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1. Sarah Stamper had an RBI single for Hamilton in the fifth.

Alicia Wheeler (9-0) got the victories in both games. She struck out nine in the opener and two in the second game.

Melissa Weston (6-4) pitched well for Hamilton, but took the losses. She held the potent Maroons to 13 hits.

At Bigfork, Lacey Thompson and Anika Huth combined on a two-hitter to lead Libby to the easy Western A victory over Bigfork.

The game was halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule. The Loggers (3-0, 5-1) scored eight runs in the second and 11 in the third.

Thompson Falls went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Stacey Bothman, Kelley Bothman and Jolene Huntsberger each had two RBIs. The Loggers had 17 hits.

Bigfork's Jessie Farris and Jennianne Olsen had singles. The Vals dropped to 0-4, 0-8.
