Missoulian Four Lady Griz come out on top

CHENEY, Wash. - Renee Dunn became the first female long jumper in University of Montana track history to sail 19 feet Friday night at the Pelluer Invitational.

Dunn, a sophomore from La Center, Wash., went 19 feet, 7 inches - the top mark in the Big Sky Conference this spring. It was not only surpassed the old school record of 18-10, set by Kim Currie seven years ago, but broke a 13-year-old meet record as well.

Dunn came back in the triple jump to post her personal best of 38-3, placing second behind Natalie Dorow of Seattle Pacific.

Jamie Slyder of UM just missed the school shot put record she set a week ago, winning the competition with a throw of 47-3. Julie Deming won the high jump for the Lady Griz with a leap of 5-5, while Suzanne Krings won the pole vault with a mark 11 feet, 1/4 inch. Jim Reed was the only Grizzly male to win an event, capturing the 3,000-meter steeplchase in 9:39.53.

Dual meet scores from the meet weren't available Friday night.
