Missoulian Softball roundup

In Missoula Big Sky's first two softball games of the season - both losses - the Eagles had great pitching, but no timely hits.

The Eagles got both Thursday in a 5-0 Western AA win over Kalispell at McEnaney Field. The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but the second game was rained out.

Senior Lisa Macki pitched seven strong innings, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits to improve to 1-2 on the season. Macki has 45 strikeouts in three games this season.

Junior Collette Phillips went 3-for-4, drove in two runs and scored two to lead the Eagles' offense.

"Our girls were having some fun today," said Big Sky coach Al Stohle. "They were putting the bat on the ball. Those things are starting to come around."

Phillips and Amanda Armstrong each doubled for the Eagles, while Hollie Zeier and Linae Foshag each added run-scoring singles.
