DARBY – The first Darby Doll, Toy and Teddy Bear Show and Sale will donate all proceeds to the needy dogs, cats, horses, goats and pigs of AniMeals.
A group of passionate doll collectors in the Bitterroot Valley are sponsoring the event this weekend.
The display will include composition baby dolls, Shirley Temple dolls, antiques and vintage christening gowns, cloth dolls and many other items.
Coordinator Kay Schrader said the group contacted several people and found that the closest shows are in Billings, Spokane and Lewiston, Idaho.
Schrader has been collecting items for eight years. She said she was looking online and got hooked. One of Schrader’s dolls has been with her since she was 4 years old.
“Even non-collectors are excited about the show because it is a unique event for our area. People are also very excited that we have chosen AniMeals as our sponsored charity,” Schrader said.
The proceeds will benefit the Missoula AniMeals and the Missoula AniMania store. The collectors from the Bitterroot Valley have a passion for dolls and for animals, Schrader said.
The sale includes vendors from the Bitterroot Valley, Gallatin Gateway, Kalispell, Dillon and various other Montana communities. Vendors will have available for sale antiques, vintage, modern, collectible and artists dolls – including porcelain, composition, vinyl, cloth and other materials. Toys, teddy bears, doll clothes and accessories, doll furniture and many other items will also be for sale.
The event will take place Saturday and Sunday in Darby. Admission is $2 or bring a pet item. On Saturday, July 7, the event will be at the Darby Community Clubhouse from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, July 8, the event will be at the Darby Community Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
