Associated Press Montana 10 cents higher than national average
HELENA (AP) - While the average price for gasoline nationally has fallen 5 cents per gallon this month, prices in Montana have climbed nearly 4 cents a gallon, AAA reported Friday.
The automobile association said self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in Montana averaged $1.59 per gallon in April, up from $1.55 in March. Nationally, the average price was $1.49, down from $1.54 per gallon the month before.
The average price of regular gas in Montana is 39 cents higher per gallon than a year ago, AAA said. It said gas prices in the West are the highest in the country.
A decision by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to increase oil production, and renewed energy conservation efforts by motorists, could bring prices down for summer, AAA said.
