POCATELLO, ID - The University of Montana women's tennis team will be the third seed in the upcoming Big Sky Championships after losing to Montana State 5-3 Sunday in the final match at the Mountain Regional tournament.
Montana State will take the No. 2 seed into the Big Sky Championships at Pocatello on April 20-22. Idaho State will host the tournament as the top seed.
Montana was tied with Montana State 3-3 heading into the doubles competition after the two teams split the singles matches. Stacy Voelker and Staci Rust teamed up to win at No. 3 doubles and give the Bobcats a 4-3 lead. Montana State's No. 2 team of Ali Jensen and Elizabeth Lowrance then defeated Jessie Childress and Ashild Fjeldheim 8-2 to clinch the win. The No. 1 doubles team did not need to complete their match.
Jessica Redding, Fjeldheim and Kim Barger each earned wins in singles play for the Lady Griz.
