Dwight and Betty Rittenhouse recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Village Senior Residence in Missoula, where they live.
Hosts were their two children and spouses, Terry Jo and Darrell Sather of Mica, Wash., and Dave and Suz Rittenhouse of Boise, Idaho.
Dwight Rittenhouse and Betty Bensch were married April 28, 1940, in Great Falls.
Born and raised in Deer Lodge, the couple graduated from high school there. Dwight worked for Safeway stores until becoming a fireman for the Milwaukee Railroad and later an engineer. He served with the 770th Railroad Battalion and Occupation Force in Yokohama, Japan, during World War II.
Betty was a beauty operator before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. In 1957 the Rittenhouses moved to Missoula, where Dwight continued to work as a railroad engineer until retiring in 1980.
The couple has three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
