Methodist church to host Bonner Park picnic Sunday

The First United Methodist Church, 300 E. Main St., will host a potluck picnic at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Bonner Park. People should bring their own plates and utensils. Drinks will be provided.

Ice cream social Monday at Alliance parish

The Community Bible Study’s annual ice cream social will be held Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Missoula Alliance Church, 100 E. Foss Court, Room 106, off the lower parking lot. A 12-week depth study of “Daniel” will begin Monday, Sept. 8, from 7 to 8:35 p.m. at the same location.

Preschool enrolling toddlers to 5-year-olds

St. Paul’s Preschool, 202 Brooks St., is enrolling 3-, 4- and 5-year olds for the 2014-2015 school term. There are spaces for 12 children in each age-level class; openings are filled on a first-come basis.

Buddhist practice day planned Sept. 6

“A Day of Buddhist Practice: Cultivating Love and Compassion” will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 102 McLeod. Sponsored by Big Sky Mind and the Tibetan Language Institute, the retreat will be led by Buddhist teacher David Curtis. No meditation experience is necessary.

Suggested donation is $25-$50; students may attend for free. Same-day registration is 9 a.m. at the door. There will be a break from 12:30 to 2 p.m., and participants are invited to stay for a potluck lunch.
