BUTTE - The Butte Central Maroons got a measure of revenge by downing Hamilton 3-2 in a Central A softball matchup on Saturday.

Central catcher Cianna Roeber went 3-for-3 and drove in what proved to be the winning run with a single in the fifth inning.

Lindsay Thatcher earned a victory for Central on her 17th birthday, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out five.

Kelsey Orizotti, Meghan Foley, and Thatcher all went 1-for-3 for the Maroons.

Senior Krystle Peterson went 2-for-3 to lead the way for the Broncs. Melissa Weston, who took the loss for Hamilton, registered eight strikeouts without issuing a walk.

By downing Hamilton, the Maroons avenged an April 22 loss at Hamilton. That snapped Central's 55-game winning streak.

Hamilton dropped to 5-1 in Central A action and 11-4 overall, while Cenyrtal improved to 5-1 and 9-2.

Bravettes take two

BUTTE - The Kalispell Bravettes scored two wins in doubleheader Western AA action, 3-1and 6-3 over the Butte Bulldogs.

In the day's first game, Stefanie Lanfear had a double and two RBIs to lead the way for the Bravettes. Kalispell pitcher Jordan Waverek fanned 12 and limited Butte to just three hits and two walks in earning the complete game victory. Leena Worrell took the loss for the Bulldogs.

In the second contest, senior Rosie Fleck went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to pace Kalispell. Kristi Burton added a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI for the Bravettes, matching teammate Valissa Sneck. Chelsi Lorenz picked up the win for Kalispell. Heidi Greer went 2-for-3 for Butte.

Maren Buck doubled in the fifth inning and scored on a Leah Madden single, snapping a 2-2 tie and propelling Missoula Sentinel past Western AA rival Helena Capital at Playfair Park.

Buck and Allison Rasmussen each rapped two hits, and Rasmussen added an RBI single.

Buck went the distance to improve her pitching record to 8-2, striking out nine and walking two.

Stefani Hertz pitched the complete game win and ripped a pair of RBI singles as the Spartans completed a sweep of the Helena schools.

Maren Buck's bases-loaded double sparked a four-run fourth inning that put Sentinel in command 7-2.

Hertz's singles scored Buck in the third and Mandy Bighorn in the sixth. Bighorn scored three runs.

Pitcher Lynnae Foshag gave up just one run on five hits as Missoula Big Sky cruised past Western AA rival Helena High 6-1 at McEnaney Field.

The junior also went 2-for-3 from the plate, and teammate JoDee Krause had two RBIs for the Eagles. Big Sky improved to 3-6 in the conference and 8-7 overall.

Mandy Brown and Amy McArdel each had two hits for Helena.

THOMPSON FALLS - Aimee Sherry scored from third on a double steal in the top of the tenth inning to give Frenchtown a 3-2 win over Class B-C foe Thompson Falls.

The sophomore went 3-for-5 with a double for the Broncs, who improved to 6-3 in the conference and 11-4 overall. Freshman pitcher Eileen Babon had 10 strikeouts and moved to 7-0 on the year.

Rose Benton and Anna Ivers each had two hits for Thompson Falls, which dropped to 6-5, 6-8. Catcher Leah Clark drove in the Bluehawks' only two runs.

Red Devils sweep

NOXON - Freshman pitcher Stacy Smith earned two wins on the mound and collected a single, a double, a triple and eight RBIs for Noxon as the Red Devils won both ends of a doubleheader with Sunburst. Noxon took the first game 25-2 and won the second 16-12.

Noxon exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning in the opener. The game was shortened due to the 10-run margin rule.

In the second game, freshman catcher Randi Stocking went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Noxon.

Sunburst's Miranda Diegel had five hits and two RBIs on the day.
