A Ronan man faces felony burglary charges Thursday for allegedly trying to steal a car from a woman's garage while she watched.

Allen Robert Ray, 57, was arrested Wednesday evening. According to court and Missoula County Sheriff's records, homeowner Claudia Muhs was checking her garage about two miles north of the Wye on Highway 93 when she saw someone backing her 1984 Nissan Maxima down the driveway. She yelled at the driver to stop, and he did. The suspect then walked away and Muhs called 9-1-1.

Deputies spotted Ray walking along the highway around 9:30 p.m. According to the sheriff's report, Ray said he was trying to get home to Ronan. Deputies arrested him based on Muhs' description of the suspect.

Ray appeared in Missoula County Justice Court Thursday afternoon and was held pending $2,000 bond. He also faces an outstanding Missoula City warrant for misdemeanor theft.
