The Missoula County Sheriff's Office is investigating an assault over the weekend that left a woman still unconscious as of Wednesday.
According to the sheriff's office, 911 dispatchers received a call around 8:30 p.m. Saturday about a woman lying on Coal Mine Road near the intersection with Otis Street in the Northside neighborhood.
When emergency responders arrived, they found the woman had suffered a serious head injury. She was taken to Providence St. Patrick Hospital but has yet to regain consciousness, authorities said.
According to investigators, the woman was last seen about two hours before she was found, and detectives believe her injuries were caused by a blunt object.
