The Englemann spruce was carefully loaded onto a trailer last week to begin its long journey back to Washington, D.C., where it will light up the U.S. Capitol lawn during the holiday season.

The Christmas tree for the nation's Capitol, cut last week in the Kootenai National Forest, will be making its way through Montana this week on the beginning of its journey to Washington, D.C. Here's where to see it along the way:
