County commissioners to hold hearings

Monday is a holiday for government, in honor of presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

Missoula City Council members will take the day off, with no Monday night meeting.

The Missoula County commissioners' weekly public meeting takes place on Wednesday, which is not a holiday. The commissioners have five public hearings on their schedule: their intent to create a special improvement district to maintain one fire hydrant on Elk Ridge Court; the Preston Street/Hiberta Street Sewer Extension Excavation Permit; an amendment to West Point PUD in the East Butler Creek Foothills Zoning District; Longhorn Flat, a 24-lot subdivision on 163.7 acres on Highway 12 west of Lolo; and Houle Meadows, 23 lots on 27.5 acres on the northwest corner of Houle Creek Road and Mullan Road, continued from

Feb. 2. The meeting will run from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in Room 201 of the Missoula County Courthouse annex.

On Tuesday, the commissioners will attend the Missoula Airport Authority meeting at the airport from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Public Outreach Committee of the City Local Government Study Commission will meet at 2 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room at City Hall. At 3 p.m., the commission will meet with the City Council's Committee of the Whole. And on Friday, the city commission and its counterpart, the County Local Government Study Commission, will meet jointly at 2 p.m. in Room 201 of the Missoula County Courthouse.

On Wednesday, the South 39th Street Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Meadow Hill School Multi-purpose Room. Call 258-4917.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., the University District Neighborhood Council Leadership Team will meet at 345 Daly Ave. Call 258-4917.

The City Board of Adjustment will meet on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

On Thursday at noon, the board of directors of the Missoula Urban Transportation District will meet in the City Council Conference Room. Call 543-8386.

The Library Board will meet Thursday at 5:15 p.m. at the Missoula Public Library.

The Community Forum will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
