U.S. Senator Steve Daines of Montana will join President Donald Trump during the president's Thursday rally in Great Falls.
A spokesperson for the senator confirmed that Daines — who just spent several days in Russia as part of a contingent of Republican senators — returned to the United States on Wednesday.
Daines posted photos to his Twitter account on Wednesday celebrating Independence Day in the nation's capital.
He will be riding along on Air Force One with President Trump to Montana, his spokesperson said.
The senator was part of a group of Republican lawmakers who went to Russia on Saturday and met with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday.
On the Fourth of July, Daines took some heat on Twitter from people who thought he was still in Russia, and looked askance at his tweet from in front of the Capitol.
Always remember the names of the GOP Congressmen who chose to spend OUR Independence Day in Russia groveling at Putin’s heels:— Ingrid E Baptista (@Ingridebap) July 5, 2018

That trip was in advance of a planned meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Finland later this month.
Daines will speak with reporters about the trip during a press briefing on Monday.
