Eighty-two Hellgate High School seniors converged on Splash Montana on Tuesday for some spring cleaning, part of their annual service day to the community. "We do this every year," says social studies department chair Jennifer Copley. "We talk about it as civic virtue. Giving back and saying thanks to the community that we live in." The extra help is a welcome relief for the crew at Splash Montana. The municipal water park complex on Bancroft Avenue is getting ready for its May 29 opening. "What takes us two to three weeks to get done, they can do in a day," said aquatics program specialist Brian Kittleson. "It should save us several thousand dollars in staffing. We'd love to have them do it again next year." Along with the 82-student crew at the swimming pool, another 190 Hellgate seniors worked with the Montana Conservation Corps Tuesday, building a walking trail on Mount Jumbo.
