Missoula police are investigating a possible homicide after responding to a report of a dead man in a vehicle parked at St. Patrick Hospital.
Detective Sgt. Scott Pastian said police arrived at 12:30 p.m. Sunday and found the man had died from a single or multiple gunshot wounds.
He said the victim died before arriving at the hospital and was transported to the hospital from Spokane by another man.
Pastian said detectives are speaking with the man who drove the victim to Missoula and the victim's family. No suspects are in custody.
"We are investigating the possibility that the death occurred in Spokane," Pastian said. "We've got investigators from Spokane en route to conduct a collaborative investigation."
Pastian said he didn't know the man's age or how many gunshot wounds he received, but detectives will know more after Monday's autopsy is completed.
They are also investigating the possibility drugs were involved in the man's death.
"It's too early at this time to rule out any possibilities," he said.
Police have requested a search warrant to inspect the vehicle where the body was found.
