DARBY - Janice D. Oberstaller, 72, of Darby, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Marcus Daly Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Hamilton surrounded by her family.
Jan was born March 3, 1933, in Conner to Leslie Moles and Isabel Shigley Moles and as a child moved to Milwaukie, Ore.
She married Ken Oberstaller on July 22, 1951, in Milwaukie where they also raised their three children and were involved in many community activities.
She retired in 1995 as the CEO of a credit union in Oregon City, Ore., and returned to the Bitterroot Valley where she received her EMT certification and began a second career with the Darby Ambulance as well as the West Fork Quick Response Unit.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and creating exquisite Christmas wreaths for family and friends.
She was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose leaving has left a void in the lives of those she touched.
Survivors include her husband Ken of Darby; daughter Kim Carter (Rick) of Darby; two sons, Scott (Nancy) of Orting, Wash., and Kevin (Stacy) of Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and stepmother Irma Moles of Hamilton.
At Jan's request there will be no formal services. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
The family suggests memorials to the Marcus Daly Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, the American Cancer Society or the West Fork QRU.
