MISSOULA - A memorial service for James J. Harrington will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Unity Church in Missoula.
Mr. Harrington died at his home March 11, 2007, at age 62. Born Aug. 13, 1944, in Plentywood, he lived with his three brothers and two sisters on a farm near Outlook. Jim played basketball, baseball and ran track in high school. After attending art school in Seattle, Jim returned to eastern Montana and married his love, Lorraine, in August 1965 in Poplar.
Following stops in Denver and Richmond, Calif., they moved in 1973 to Missoula where he continued his work as an auto painter at T&W Chevrolet and later at T&C Auto Body. Most recently, Jim worked at Carquest Automotive Supply.
Jim possessed extraordinary talents and had a love of drawing portraits, woodworking, playing piano, tai chi, camping along the Oregon coast and hiking to the top of Mount Sentinel. Jim's kind heart, gentle nature and tremendous ability to make everyone laugh and smile will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years; sisters Sylvia Paulson of Raymond and her husband Myrlen, and Kathy Wirtz of Outlook; brothers Bob Harrington and wife Anita of Olympia, Wash., and Tom Harrington and wife Peggy of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters Jen Harrington of Missoula and Stephanie Sorenson and husband Matt of Portland, Ore.; sons Sean Harrington of Spokane and Matt Harrington and wife Melissa of Portland; and seven beautiful grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Pat Harrington and his parents Ben and Florence Harrington.
