MISSOULA - Mamie Ernst Fister, 95, of Missoula, passed away Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2005, at the Village Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Birks County, Pa., the daughter of the late William and Sally Anne Rentschler Ernst. Mamie graduated from Pottsville (Pa.) High School in 1929. In 1930, she married Graeff Tobias Fister.
The couple had two children: Gale Graeff Fister, longtime pastor of the Lolo Community Church, and Betty Jean Jackson. Mamie has 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She graduated from beauty school in 1938. Together with Graeff, they owned a restaurant called the Sugar Bowl in Pottsville for eight years. In Missoula, she worked for the Bon Marche for 16 years.
Mamie was a member of the Lolo Community Church, Women's Fellowship and Bible Study Group.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Lolo Community Church followed by a reception.
The family suggests memorials to the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission, 11897 Lewis and Clark Drive, Lolo, MT 59847.
Cremation has taken place under the care of the Montana Cremation and Memorial Society.
