HAMILTON - Catherine Teresa Brower, beloved mother of Michael, Elwood and Patrick Brower, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the age of 78.
Catherine was a resident of Discovery Care Centre in Hamilton for the last few years of her life, but before that she was a resident of Victor; Bayboro, S.C.; Linwood, Pa.; and her birth city, Chester, Pa., where she was born July 2, 1929.
On July 12, 1947, she married her childhood sweetheart, Elwood Chester Brower, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2004. Together they raised three sons and have nine grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren, with one more due this month.
Her husband Elwood served in the Marine Corps in 1946-1947. Today two of their grandsons proudly serve in the U.S. military; Hank Brower, USAF and Decker Brower, USMC.
Catherine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Michael and Mary Brower of Victor, Elwood and Penny Brower of Milesburg, Pa., and Patrick and Christine Brower of Victor. Two of her eight siblings, Mary Minner of Boothwyn, Pa., and Margaret Parent of Claymont, Del., also survive her; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Catherine worked for A&P Supermarkets and L'eggs Hosiery, but was primarily a mother and housewife who loved to cook and excelled at it, taking to her final resting place many of her beloved recipes. We'll miss you, Mom.
Cooking, camping, jigsaw puzzles, Scrabble, pinochle and mystery novels were among her favorite pastimes, but her true love was doting over her family.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Hamilton.
Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel.
