MISSOULA — At 94, Agnes "Grannie Ag" Hills/Erhart died of natural causes on March 23rd. Agnes was born in the Tyrolean Hills of Italy on Sept. 20, 1923. "Aggie" immigrated to the US at age 8.
Ag married twice, first to Robert Hills and later to Alex Erhart. "Grannie Aggie" was widowed by both of her husbands and also preceded in death by a great-grandson.
Agnes worked early as a telegrapher and later in retail. Ag enjoyed a long life of bowling, sports spectating, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, dancing, camping, fishing, traveling, dressing fashionably and anything in the presence of her family.
Agnes is survived by her five Hills children; Sandy, Gary, Wayne, Roger, and Robin as well her four Erhart step-children; Ben, Bryan, Vicky, and Scott. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A service in Agnes' honor will be held on June 19 at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church on South Avenue in Missoula. A reception, at the church, will follow. A burial of Grannie Ag's ashes will follow at Florence Carlton Cemetery.
