March 7, 1991-Dec. 11, 2014
MISSOULA – Born in Salt Lake City, Alyssa moved with her family in 1997 to the Wood River Valley, where she attended Hemingway Elementary, Wood River Middle School and Wood River High School. As a young girl, she participated in a great number of the activities available in our community, including the Wood River Dolphins swim team and Hailey Ski Team. She spent her junior year at private school in Tucson, Arizona, but returned home for her senior year. Following high school, Alyssa moved to Missoula and took classes at the University of Montana.
Alyssa was a talented artist who enjoyed painting, drawing and crafting jewelry from precious stone beads. She adored animals and had a way with them, small children and the elderly. Alyssa had a sensitive soul and a generous, caring heart. She was extremely intelligent and fiercely independent. Alyssa appreciated nature and enjoyed the outdoors, particularly spending time by the river with her constant canine companion, Bella.
She will be forever missed and loved by her parents, Tom and Julie; her brother, Mitchell; her grandmothers, Anita Niles and Nancy Steinman; her aunt and uncle, Sarah and Greg Campbell; and her cousins, Whitney and Matthew; as well as all of her good friends in the Wood River Valley and Missoula, especially Jason and Marsha Kirchner. Aly was the love of Jason’s life.
Her life will be celebrated by her family and friends, who will hold simultaneous candlelight vigils at the Big Wood and Clark Fork rivers on Jan. 3, 2015, at 5 p.m.
