MISSOULA – Cindy was born Jan. 12, 1951, in Missoula to Frank and Loretta Jacobsen. She passed away June 30, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family.
Cindy attended Hawthorne Elementary and Hellgate High School. She graduated from high school in 1969. During high school, she met the love of her life and future husband of 38 years, James Kost. They had two sons.
Cindy worked at many places. She served as a secretary at the Western Montana Fairgrounds. She also worked in the kitchen at Hellgate Elementary and was a parent volunteer for many years. She then worked at Beach Transportation for 12 years as a driver and attendant until she retired in April 2010.
Cindy enjoyed crafts, from making quilts to cross-stitching. She also was a great baker. Everyone loved her cookies and almond rocha.
Cindy is survived by her husband Jim and sons Joseph and Jesse, all of Missoula; grandmother Emma Kuhl of Corvallis; mother Loretta Jacobsen of Prineville, Ore.; brothers Jim Jacobsen (Sue) of Boise, Idaho, and Ted Jacobsen (Mary Ann) of Spokane Valley, Wash.; two sisters, Marcy Pyron (Robert) of Missoula and Rosie (Toby) Case of Prineville; and many nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her father Frank and two great dogs, Kirby and Opie.
The family would like to thank all the friends of Cindy who helped out through everything: Phil and Marlene Englert and family, Mary Ellen Cote, Lone Bryan and all of the quilting ladies. They also would like to thank Dr. Nichols and the staff at Montana Cancer Center at Community Medical Center and the staff of Partners in Home Care.
At Cindy’s request no services are planned. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you send donations to the charity of your choice.
