MISSOULA – Daniel Leroy "Dan" Tichenor, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015, following a brief stay at the Valley View Estates Health Care Center in Hamilton. Dan was born May 12, 1926, in Roanwood. After graduating high school in Opheim, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944 at the young age of 17 and served in the South Pacific and China.

After his service, Dan began a lifelong career as a lineman and worked all over the West. On March 31, 1957, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Holloron, and the couple traveled throughout the state of Montana pursuing Dan's lineman career. With the additions of son Scott and daughter Karen, the couple settled in Missoula and Dan began working for Montana Power in 1965. He retired in 1988 after a very rewarding career.

Dan enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. He enjoyed gardening and fixing whatever needed his attention.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Tichenor; daughter, Karen Miller (Dean); grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Zachary Miller and Danny Tichenor; and daughter in-law, Melanie Tichenor.

Dan was preceded in death by his son, Scott Daniel Tichenor; parents, Clarence and Hedvig Tichenor; and sisters, Beryl Sayre and Edith Burroughs.

In honoring Dan's wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be mailed to the family home in Missoula.
