ELMO – David Joseph Martinez, 22, passed away in Pablo on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015.
He was born to Delinda Finley and Wilcoxson “Sonny” Martinez on June 5, 1993, in Polson. Raised and educated on the reservation, he was a master of “Chillin” with his brother, Dom, family and friends. Like his father and uncles, he enjoyed all sports. He played all positions in baseball; enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family. He enjoyed all music and enjoyed attending concerts. David was known for having a big heart, was very caring and would give you the shirt off of his back.
In 2012, David and his partner, Ciera, were blessed with their beautiful daughter, AnnaLea, and from then on he focused on being a good father, and he enjoyed playing with her and watching her grow. She is their pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Leonard; grandma, Nancy Joseph; sister, Tina Wynne; and brother, Frankie Nicolai III.
He is survived by his parents, Delinda Finley of Elmo and Wilcoxson “Sonny” Martinez of Pablo; grandma, Janice Michel of Pablo; grandpas, Joseph Finley of Wellpinit, Washington, and Wilcoxson Martinez of New Mexico; his partner, Ciera Lozeau Steele, and daughter, Annalia Martinez, of Pablo; siblings, Shantel Martinez of Omak, Washington, Ramona Wynne of Elmo, Crimson Cox of Pablo, Athena Martinez of Pablo, Dominic Martinez of Elmo, Chimeco Martinez and Matthew Nicolai of Ronan, Bowdrea Nicolai of Pablo, Shawn Bigby of Elmo, Wilcoxson Martinez Jr. of Pablo and John Cox of Pablo; as well as large family of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake at the Cultural Hall in Elmo has started with the rosary being recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the hall. Condolences may be left at fosterfhandcrematory.com.
