DILLON – Doris Mae Zahn passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in Dillon after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a young 82.
She was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Pingree, Idaho, to Robert and Thelma (Peterson) Campbell.
She lived in Pingree throughout her school years. She helped her parents on the family farm, milking cows before school, doing homework by candlelight, listening to her father tell stories as they would take walks, were all things she often talked about and treasured.
It was in Pingree where she met Joseph Thomas Zahn. They were married in 1945 and together raised six boys and one girl. They lived most of their 52 years together in Blackfoot, Idaho, later moving to Florence.
Doris enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, oil painting, gardening, cooking, sewing and quilting, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph in 1997; and two sons, Eddie Dean Zahn of Butte in 1988 and James Zahn of Florence in 1998.
Survivors include her four sons, Terry of Cut Bank, Mike of Post Falls, Idaho, Robert (Barbara) of Kennewick, Wash., and Rodney of Dillon; one daughter, Sarina (Casey) Holliday of Dillon; her sister, Ruby Gojenola of Yakima, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 24, at the Florence Baptist Church, followed by graveside services at noon at the Carlton Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating.
The Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville is in charge of arrangements.
