DEER LODGE – Jo Joyce Yoki Olsen, 77, of Deer Lodge, died peacefully Monday morning, March 22, 2010, at Powell County Memorial Hospital.
Joyce was born on Aug. 14, 1932, in Hamilton, to Olaf and Vonnie (Cunningham) Yoki.
She was married to Robert J. Olsen in May 1954 and enjoyed 42 years of marriage.
Joyce, in addition to a variety of employment opportunities, was an Avon representative for more than 30 years. She was also a teacher’s assistant for Deer Lodge schools, working mainly alongside children with special needs. During those years she was a dedicated volunteer with Special Olympics.
She enjoyed many things in life such as bridge club and summers planting flowers; however her family was always her first love and greatest joy. She was always there to comfort and support her family and her many dear friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert J. Olsen.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim (Janet) Olsen and Joseph (Rosemary) Olsen of Deer Lodge; grandchildren Shane (Lisa) Olsen, Tanya (Guillermo) Rodriguez and Carey Olsen; great-grandchildren Robert, Ryan and Isabel; sister Claudia (Phil) Waber of Wellsboro, Pa.; brother John (Beth) Humble of Hamilton; as well as numerous nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the First Baptist Church in Deer Lodge, with Pastor Howard Neckles officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Shodair Childrens’ Hospital in Helena or a charity of the donor’s choice.
