MISSOULA – Laurence Charles “Larry” Stineford was born on Jan. 21, 1947, to Rosina and Charles Stineford in Los Angeles, California. Larry succumbed to a 25 year battle with cancer and died on Monday, July 27, 2015. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sue Stineford, who was the love of his life.
Larry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Debbie Stineford of Missoula; his son Joshua Stineford of Palm Springs, California; his son Charles Stineford of Schaumburg, Illinois, and his grandsons, Sean and Connor Stineford of Missoula.
Larry was born and remained an only child to his parents, growing up in the desert of California, attending college and graduate school finishing his schooling with a doctorate in clinical psychology. Larry practiced psychology in Chinook, Havre, Butte and in California for the Department of Corrections. Larry retired from the California Youth Authority in 2011 and moved to Missoula to spend time with his grandsons Sean and Connor.
Through his practice, Larry touched the lives of thousands of people. He is remembered fondly and missed greatly by scores of friends and family. Larry’s spiritual journey led him and Sue to and orthodox conversion to Judaism. Larry was observant and faithful to God. He was a good and righteous man, a faithful son, a loving father and true friend. He is sorely missed and mourned.
Larry was buried at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula on Tuesday, July 28, in accordance with Jewish tradition. A memorial will be held at a later time for friends and family.
