MEDFORD, Ore. – “Be who you is, not who you ain’t, 'cause if you ain’t who you is, you is who you ain’t.” Luther Price
This quote was a favorite of Linda’s and in keeping with the quote, she chose to write her own obituary.
“I felt a funny desire to write this myself and so I begin: I was born in Eugene, Oregon, and our family moved to Helena in the early 60s. We returned to southern Oregon in 2003 to help care for our aging loved ones.
In 1991, I graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula and continued my career at UM, then SOU in Oregon until 2007.
The Master Gardening Program helped drive my interests to the outdoors and it became a passion as many hours were spent in my beautiful yard. I wish I had spent more time relaxing in my magical space and would offer the same advice to anyone else.
Love, joy and gratitude of what we make of our time here needs so very much to be acknowledged and shared with others.
Thank you so much to my wonderful family and friends who supported me during this illness.
Not to forget the many amazing adopted and rescued animals who shared their lives with me.
In goodbye, I would like to suggest a donation to any of the animal shelters if you feel so inclined to add even more joy into your life.”
Linda’s love and creativity will be missed. As her mother said of her, “You (Linda) have always had a talent for making something beautiful out of the least of material things and this has shown in all the things that you have endeavored. You have created beauty where there was none before and always been generous with yourself and talents.”
Linda’s family extends a heart-felt thank you to her Hospice team and friend, Ellen. Linda is survived by her mother and brother, Lois and Mike Stephenson of Klamath Falls, Oregon; cousin and niece, Merlie and Neikko Robin of southern Oregon; daughter Emily McBride and her family of Sherwood, Oregon.
