MISSOULA – Mary Bernice Wenstrom, 92, of Missoula, formerly of Helena, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the Missoula Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Westfield, N.J., to Edison A. and Helen I. (Thomson) Buckley.
She attended elementary schools in Fanwood, N.J.; Little Silver, N.J.; and Ocean Port, N.J. Bernice graduated from high school in White Plains, N.Y., and also attended White Plains Business College. She married George E. Wenstrom on Jan. 20, 1945, at USNAS Opaloca, Fla.
Bernice worked for several agencies within the federal government, retiring with more than 30 years of service.
Bernice’s interests included hiking, camping, traveling, reading, sewing and knitting. She also loved music and ballroom dancing. Bernice also was an avid participant in the Women of the Moose in Helena and attended Mass at the Cathedral of St. Helena.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, and her parents.
Survivors include her children, George Allen Wenstrom of Belgrade, Barbara (Dan) Lofton of Avon and Carolyn (Don) Lang of Missoula; eight grandchildren, Cherie, Richard, Casey, Terry, Jeff, Kent, Tara and Ryan; and four great-grandchildren, Kylee, Carson, Kailey and Josh.
Family is to receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Friday, May 7, at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 8, at Resurrection Cemetery.
