OVANDO – Norman Marion Jorgenson passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 18, 2009. He was 98.
Born at home in Buffalo Center, Iowa, on Jan. 11, 1911, Norman spent his early years in Crosby, N.D., moving to White Sulphur Springs in 1936.
He married Virginia Stern in 1944 and together they began raising their family. In 1955, they moved to Ovando.
Norman is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia; children Elaine (Scotty Duncan) of Redlands, Calif., Gary (Lora) of Laclede, Idaho, LaVonne of Ovando, David of Hobart Bay, Alaska, and daughter-in-law Arlene of Priest River, Idaho; three grandsons, Brian, George and Kevin and four great-grandchildren, Mathias, Dylan, Kenyon and Taya. He is also survived by one brother, Harold; two sisters, Ann Dokken and Mable Hruby; brother-in-law Harmon Vinson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eliza Jorgenson; brothers Carl, Martin, Oscar and Gordon; and sisters Elsie, Ann, and Gladys Vinson.
Norman spent his life ranching; he loved horses, his cattle, a good story and most of all his family.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Ovando gym.
