CAMAS, Wash. – Phil West Harston, 70, of Camas, Wash., died Friday, May 28, 2010, at St. Patrick Hospital as a result of a brain hemorrhage due to a fall while visiting in Missoula.
Phil was born March 24, 1940, in Cowley, Wyo., to James and Opal Harston. He attended grade school and graduated from high school in Cowley. Phil was an outstanding basketball player for the state of Wyoming during his high school days and received numerous scholarships to colleges. He chose to play for Eastern Arizona.
He met and married his wife, Dori, in 1961 in Sheridan, Wyo. They are the parents of two sons, Michael of Missoula and David of Olathe, Kan. They recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
Phil was administrator of the Radiology Department of Western Montana Clinic for 21 years before entering the field of sales in the Medical Imaging Division of 3-M, Imation and Kodak. He retired in 2002 as a result of medical issues.
In addition to his two sons, Phil is survived by one brother, Lee Harston of Littleton, Colo. and two sisters, Jean Wardel of Lovell, Wyo. and Ann Bassett of Centerville, Utah.
