The Mineral County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 2, but there is little initial information to go on.
Sheriff Mike Boone said that his office, with support provided by the Montana Highway Patrol, responded to a call of a man injured by a gunshot. "The investigation, collaboratively conducted between the Mineral County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, is in its initial stages and at this time no suspect is in custody," Boone said in a statement.
He said his office "can assure the community" there is no elevated safety risk to any other individuals as a result of this incident. He said they will release more information as it becomes available so that it does not jeopardize the nature of the investigation.
