Glacier National Park visitors will need to plan around road closures in the park’s North Fork area.
In a news release Thursday, Glacier announced that on July 17, it will “begin a significant road grading and gravel replacement project on the Bowman Lake Road.” The project will fix potholes and drainage, and improve the road surface.
Road work is expected to last through late summer, and work will be done on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. On those days, visitors will not be able to access Bowman Lake from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Glacier's release said these times were chosen to minimize the impact on visitors.
Closure times may change as the work progresses. Visitors will be advised of daily restrictions at the Polebridge Entrance Station.
