FLORENCE – A two-year investigation into the prescription-writing practices of Dr. Chris Christensen of Big Creek Family Medicine and Urgent Care in Florence culminated Tuesday.

A multi-agency task force of members from the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office, the Missoula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration served a search warrant at the doctor’s office in the early morning hours, according to Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman and Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fulbright.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time. Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information will be released at this time, Hoffman said.

Before moving his office to Florence, Christensen owned a family medicine practice in downtown Victor that issued medical marijuana cards.

The search warrant was issued by Ravalli County District Judge Jim Haynes.
