Per the letter to the editor, "Bill Clinton should not throw stones," (Missoulian, May 4), the writer, John Vail of Whitefish, is incorrect. He states: "It was the Clinton administration that was responsible for the attacking and killing Americans at Waco and Ruby Ridge."

Vail's enthusiasm for impugning the left is perhaps a little overwrought. The incident at Ruby Ridge - during which armed federal agents laid siege to the mountain cabin near Naples, Idaho, occupied by Randy Weaver, his family and a friend - occurred in August 1992 during the Republican administration of President George H. W. Bush.

Paraphrasing John Adams, facts are indeed "stubborn things."
