It is customary to breathe a sign of relief after the election season as the solicitations for votes come to an end. But I'm afraid that I have found that the pressure doesn't end — it only changes.
Since Thanksgiving I have been hounded by charitable organizations begging me for a piece of my meager income. I understand that these groups operate on the generosity of the public, but many of them seem to come on like bill collection agencies — they never give up, they don't take no for an answer. Fortunately, I don't have anything that they can repossess!
I don't know how it affects other people, but if I had any "Christmas spirit," their calls and mailings would surely drown it.
