In the May 28 Missoulian, there was a letter to the editor by Diane Rotering in reference to getting people to sign a proposed constitutional amendment to place on the November ballot, CI-102. This ballot issue is sponsored by Annie Bukacek of Kalispell, a doctor, and Rick Jore who has made it his life's ambition to get this through.
What this means for every woman in the state of Montana is, you will no longer have a say in what happens to your body. If you are raped and get pregnant, too bad, have the child. If you have an unwanted pregnancy, too bad, have a child you can't support. How many throwaway kids does Montana have now who have mental and physical disabilities because of their beginnings?
As an independent-thinking woman, I will not allow the state or someone's religious thinking tell me what to do with my body. Whatever I decide to do will be between me, my partner, my doctor and the higher up I believe in. Stay out of something that has nothing to do with you. Until you are willing to stand up and wave your hand and say, "I will take financial responsibility of your unwanted child through the age of 18," stay out of my life and the others who feel the same.
