I have seasonal allergies and I wanted to purchase 2 packages of Sudafed . I was not allowed to do this because this exceeds the amount of Sudafed I can make in one purchase. I had to show my driver’s license to purchase the single package of Sudafed and it was entered onto a website in case I went to another store and tried to buy another package of pills.
If James Holmes had had a runny nose, he could have only purchased one package of the dreaded Sudafed as there is a system in place to alert the pharmacist that he had exceeded his sudafed limit.
However, there is no official system to track whether people are stockpiling vast amounts of firepower, so this man was able to amass a large amount of weapons and ammo without anyone being alerted. I’m all for the right to bear arms and I realize people can go through a lot of ammunition at gun ranges and so forth, but it seems absurd that the government is tracking decongestants and not war supplies.
