Gov. Steve Bullock, apparently you misunderstand President Truman's “The buck stops here!”
The president didn't mean the literal “buck” stopped with him. He meant the responsibility stopped at his desk for administration decisions.
The Montana Department of Revenue has indicated they are taking extra care to ensure against stolen ID and fraudulent tax refunds. No reasonable person would be against that policy. However, I think reasonable people in 2017 would agree that delays “up to eight weeks” are excessive.
Last week was eight weeks after the Revenue Department received my filing. I talked to an employee who filed 11 days prior to mine and hadn't received a refund. My filing has been over nine weeks, the direct deposit account is the same as in years past. My residence is the same, my vehicles are registered and licensed, etc.

Please cease “stopping my buck” and those of other Montanans. If your administration is attempting to gain pressure on legislators – it's not working!
Withholding my money and providing limited information (only the date received) undermines any protection from fraudulent acts. Delays will create problems if ID theft has occurred or other issues with our tax filings.
