Kudos to Jerry Straka of Whitefish for his articulate and spot-on letter (Missoulian, Feb. 19) concerning the quality of representation we endure from Rep. Denny Rehberg. I too am amazed at Rehberg’s newfound mantra of fiscal responsibility.
During the lost decade of the representative’s terms, I have occasionally written his office, questioning his votes (tax cuts for the wealthy, unfunded war and Medicare funding) that obviously were leading us to today’s crises. The congressman’s only responses came as generic newsletters, mostly partisan drivel and lacking in substance. They well could have been written by some bimbo from Fox News.
Rehberg’s partisanship is contemptible. Party first and the country can go to the wind. Being at the head of the lemming pack going over the cliff does not reflect leadership.
Montanans need new batteries in their BS detectors.
