Election 2012: Hill a fair-minded advocate

  • 0

As your representatives in city and state government, we would like to strongly voice our support for the re-election of Rep. Ellie Hill of House District 94.

Democrat Hill was a steadfast advocate for social justice and common-sense fairness while serving in a Legislature dominated by the largest right-wing majority in Montana history. She remained unwavering in defending her constituents’ values but never shied away from building bridges to people who disagreed.

Hill’s voting record speaks volumes: 100 percent with Montana Education Association/Montana Federation of Teachers; 100 percent with Montana Conservation Voters; 100 percent with NARAL Pro-Choice Montana; 100 percent with Planned Parenthood Montana; 100 percent with Montana Environmental Information Center; and 100 percent with Northern Plains Resource Council. The 62nd legislative session reflected an extreme Republican majority, hostile to state government and lacking the vision and will to serve the needs and values of all Montanans.

Hill is a champion of her constituents’ values, and we urge voters to send her back to Helena. She is facing Lou Ann Crowley, candidate for mayor against John Engen in 2005 and the same primary challenger she faced in 2010. And Hill will face former councilwoman Lyn Hellegaard in the general election.

Hill’s legislative record is solid and the decision is clear: Let’s re-elect Rep. Ellie Hill on June 5 in the primary.

Sen. Ron Erickson, Rep. Bryce Bennett, Rep. Tim Furey, Missoula City Councilwoman Caitlin Copple, Missoula City Councilman Jason Wiener, Missoula
