I’d like to respond to Alex Taft’s letter to the editor in the weeks past. He has left me scratching my head. Does he actually say that he is endorsing Lyn Hellegaard’s opponent because they are in agreement on matters?

If Taft’s tenure on city council is an indication of that, then be prepared for more taxes and fees; nanny state ideals and regulations; ignoring citizens’ input that doesn't support his views; and pushing the far-left progressive agenda.

Hellegaard has tried to protect Missoula’s neighborhoods, tried to reach across party lines while on city council to bring the budget under control without raising taxes and fees, challenged the ballpark bailout, bailout of Burns Street Commons and densification zoning but was rebuked by Taft’s progressive cohorts on council who were more interested in politicizing issues they discussing them in a rational manner.
