Marilyn Ryan, campaigning for a seat in the Montana House of Representatives, District 99, brings a great deal in personal and professional experience to this highly responsible position.
Ryan is a retired teacher of social studies, history and government with Missoula County Public Schools, where she taught both middle school and high school students. Trained in law-related education and Indian law-related instruction, and as a state director for Montana, she instructed teachers for the Constitutional Rights Foundation: We the People. During her tenure with MCPS she was a co-writer and coordinator of a U.S. Department of Education American History Grant that provided American History education for Missoula teachers.
Ryan served four years as president of the Missoula Education Association and five years as a field consultant for MEA-MFT. In her union work at the state level she served on numerous committees including those concerning legislation, budget and negotiations.
Ryan will be a strong advocate for growing the economy and for well-paying jobs. She will work for a clean environment, but as a native of Anaconda (a community which suffered greatly from the downturns in the mining industry), she also strongly believes in assisting workers facing displacement due to changing circumstances in the workplace.
In her years as a resident of Missoula, Ryan has been active in numerous local organizations including Kiwanis, United Way and the Moose Can Gully Leadership Team.
Marilyn Ryan is a superb candidate for the Montana House of Representatives. She has demonstrated leadership at both the local and the state levels. A problem-solver, she asks for input, listens well and seeks consensus.
Ryan has received endorsements from MEA-MFT, Carol’s List and Montana Conservation Voters. I urge those of you in House District 99 to cast your vote for Marilyn Ryan.
