We just can't stay quiet any longer. The Missoula City Council and mayor are simply out of control. They are spending taxpayer dollars as if there was an unlimited amount in the coffers.
They make riding the bus "free" and then brag about increased ridership. Well duh, when you make something free more people will use it. Hey, maybe the city could make everyone's car payments for them and then people wouldn't even have to ride the bus.
The mayor has some kind of obsession with the city taking over the water company. If stealing a business away from a private company is a good idea, then he should go after the electric and garbage companies next.
If people think their rates will go down and services will improve with the government in charge, think again. Always be wary when the government says they are here to help you; it never works out.

Now the city wants to build a pedestrian bridge over Reserve Street. The cost: $5 million! Wow, I didn't know we had a spare $5 million just lying around. How many people will use this bridge? They will say they will issue bonds to raise the money. Problem is, the city has to pay back those bonds, with interest. Why can't pedestrians just use the existing crosswalk like everyone else does?
The city claims it can't afford to build sidewalks or repair the streets. Well here's an idea: stop spending our tax dollars on these ridiculous projects and just focus on keeping the city running. You could also do a better job bringing new business and jobs here instead of creating a hostile environment towards free enterprise.
Everyone should vote out the mayor and city council during the next election.
